THIS COACHED SESSION IS DESIGNED FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY TO ENJOY, TO EXPLORE CYCLING OFF ROAD AND TO GENERATE SKILLS TO TACKLE MOST GREEN ROUTES. YOU CAN HAVE A FUN FAMILY DAY OUT WHILE GETTING FIT AT THE SAME TIME.
Please note: Children must be competent cyclists, and must be aged 6 and upwards.
With the ever-increasing popularity of cycling, more families are getting out into local parks and giving it a go!
Whether you are going into the local park, visiting Centre Parks for a holiday or a purpose-built trail centre, our bespoke family mountain bike course training could be just the ticket.
Riding as a family group is great for bonding, building relationships and simply spending time together.
Our family off-road mountain bike course has some great tips and information about how to ride in a small group. You will also learn how to look out for potential problems and how to deal with incidents along the way.
We cover how to plan your day out from finding suitable routes you can all enjoy, to fitting a bike rack to your car, to what essential items to take along in your rucksack.
Our Instructor will cover information about escorting and supervising the group, as well as safety checking your bike, equipment and the basic off-road skills required for green graded family routes.

Skills Itinerary
Bike check and set up – A simple M Check which entails checking components on the bike to make sure it is going to perform to a safe standard while on the course, setting up the seat height and tyre pressures, checking the brakes.
What to bring – What to carry in your backpack on family biking adventures.
How to supervise – Learn how to supervise a group of cyclists.
Puncture repair – How to fix a puncture in your tyre.
Using the correct gears – A brief chat about using gears correctly in different circumstances depending on terrain.
Braking control – Using correct braking techniques while on the trails.
Body position – The correct techniques required for descending and climbing.
Weight shift – allowing your body to relax allowing the bike to move freely.
Slow speed control – Learning to control your bike at slow speeds which will help you out of some difficult situations.
Front wheel lift – Lifting the front wheel over small obstacles like rocks or logs while on the trails.
